Is Religion Serving it Purpose in Nigeria?

    Religion as A Concept can seen as a Particular System or way of Worship, it can also be seen as a practice that someone or some group is Seriously devoted to, usually a belief in a Supernatural Controlling power.
Nigeria as a country, consists of Three major religious groups,
Christianity.
Islam
Paganism.
With Christianity and Islam as The Dominant two religions in the Country.
Its not A lie that Every religion has Glaring advantages that the Country can Benefit from, as a Matter of fact, the two major religious group, Helps to build Good Behaviours in the Society, Promotes Charity, Preach Peace and So on.
But over the Years Many Scholars and Educationists have Attributed the Problems of Nigeria to "Religion"
I Decided to look at the Facts and saw That Religion is not longer serving it Purpose in Nigeria.
Islam Was The first Religion that came to Nigeria in the 14th century, before the Arrival of Christianity in The 15th century.
Before Islam came to Nigeria from North Africa and the Senegalese Basin, And before The Portuguese brought Christianity  and later the Britain's, Nigeria were Living without A Dominant religion, with their Cultural Practices, almost every communities had their own Gods, Yet we were living peacefully.

Until We Borrowed Religious Practices that Originally weren't ours. Now it has Affected us Politically, most Nigerians would vote any Leader into power, With out minding who the Leader was in the past, Considering the fact that the Candidate in the opposition is From another religious Group. We no longer Vote people into Power because we trust they can Be held accountable, but Because of the Mindset that "My Religion should be dominant"
   After we End up putting incompetent hands into power, because of Religion, They of course, end up favouring their Members with Political appointments, Appointing them Into sensitive positions, even The Positions that Concerns Our Nation's Economy. Even when its clear theres a Competent hand in the other side, They don't consider such, because they were favoured by their own, and they also have to pay back with their loyalty.
Our Religious leaders and groups, that should be known for peace, no longer do so, they condemn the government only when it does things contrary to their Will. We spend lots of Money Building Expensive Churches and Mosques instead of also Providing our Communities with basic amenities, we wait for the Government to Do Everything, we Forget that we are the Government.

We have lost lot of life simply because of Our Religious sentiments, Practices that Were borrowed from foreigners, Who came and Extorted our Resources, both human and material resources.

Your country don't have to be islamized or Christianized before it can become The Best, China Is the second richest country in The world, yet What they practice is neither Islam nor Christianity but Dominantly Buddhism. Even in Israel and Saudi Arebia, there are non Christians and Non Muslims, Yet they Live in one country.

We should keep religion aside, and Be Nigerians not minding if you are a Christian or Muslims, Let avoid religion sentiment, Your Religion is in your mind, and that is what keeps on telling you to do Good things, Follow the God In Your heart first.
Am not saying Either of The two are bad, but we should remember That what happens after life remains a Mystery and would forever remain a Mystery.
Do good things and believe in The God you believe in, Then our Country shall be better.
Islam and Christianity are known for peace, let them serve their purpose, The change of mindset begins with you and I.
We don't Have to Fight each other, Sometimes you don't have to shout to people to join yours, Your Character and Behavior is the Greatest Pastor and Imam.

Vote For personality not for Religion.
And Nigeria Will get Better again.
